Opportunity 1 > Classroom Interactive Learning
Where: New Ulm Special Ed., St. Peter Day Treatment, St. Peter Special Ed., & St. Peter Alternative H.S.
When: Monday-Friday. Each site has a different schedule for service-learning hours. You decide your days/times as needed.
Time: Flexible hours for each site (M-F) Anytime between 8:15am-2:30pm for most sites. (no weekends)
Requirements: Education majors
What you will be doing: Depending on the time you come in, you will be helping out with various educational activities as a group or one-on-one with the students & help teach in the classroom.
Opportunity 2 > Blue Earth county After School Art Class
Where: Mankato
When: Every Wednesday through early May
Time: 3:30-5:30 PM
Requirements: Emphasis in education, youth and art.
What you will be doing: Assist our team leader & help youth create different types of art projects. You will be interacting with youth on a one to one basis with art activities. Youth ages: 7-14 yrs. old
Opportunity 3 > Platform Presentations
Receive SL class credit by offering presentations to youth.
What: Set the stage on what you want to share; a story, an adventure, a passion about a current event, your culture & lifestyle, or anything that young students could learn about from you. This platform presentation must be interactive (visual and/or audio aids are required)
Where: New Ulm and St. Peter groups (7 classrooms total)
Times: Whatever works with your schedule, very flexible > M-F; 8:15-2:15 pm.
- Subject topic must be approved by the Program Dir. before entering the class
- Each presentation will be 45 min. to an 1 hr in length
- Prep time will be allowed and count towards your SL hrs.
Requirements: Emphasis in education, communications, youth.

REQUIREMENTS AND GUIDELINES
- The target group for this program is low income/special needs youth ages range from 5-18 years old with some learning & social disabilities.
- Must have transportation available to your placement site
- Must attend the training placement meeting. Training meeting is 30 minutes. Location will be in Mankato.. place will be determined between student and Program Director.
- After April 1st, placement will not be available or accepted
